Casie Lane - Not Everybody - Council House Recordings, Out: 24th January 2011
Casie Lane debuts on Belfast’s Council House Recordings with the instantly infectious ‘Not Everybody’. The track, which pays homage to Eddie Amador, is a fine blend of bleeping, pumping, jackin and techy house with more than a pinch of classic Chicago flavor. Remixes are provided by Jump Recordings’ boss Arturo Garces, Belfast techno veteran Colin Shields and the Council House landlord Moody B. Originally from the US Midwest, and now based in Singapore, Casie Lane was brought up on the vibrant sounds of Chicago House Music. Living just a stones throw from the global house music capital, Casie spent countless nights listening to, and being influenced by, the likes of Chip e, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground and Larry Levan on the legendary radio station B96. After the last 10 years as a DJ she has recently been drawn into the studio.
Arturo Garces, from San Jose, California, has made quite a name for himself in the house world over the past decade and his music has helped define the ‘Silicon Valley sound’. With a substantial music catalog behind him, he has releases on both established and strictly underground labels including Subliminal Soul, Solid Trax, Tangible, Plush, Trax Café and Audio Abuse, and Jump Recordings, the label he expertly manages. He has worked in several collaborations with fellow South Bay artists including Lucas Rodenbush, Mustafa, Alonso Ordonez, Mattski, Derek Scott, Spun and Chris Jackson. Arturo works his west coast magic on ‘Not Everybody' giving it a deep, dubbed out and trippy vibe.
Council House boss Moody B, aka Bill Mondjack, has been producing and releasing records for over a decade. While appearing on labels including Tronicsole, Deep Freeze and Leaf, he has worked with many renowned artists such as DJ Spun from Rong Music NY and DJ Buck. Here he provides a trademark Council House vintage house version merging old-school drum machines and acid with Casie's more modern synth lines and percussion.
Colin Shields has achieved notoriety within the Irish club scene over the years due to his phenomenal talent for getting a crowd whipped into a frenzy of techno appreciation. He has played alongside, held his own, and on many occasions considered to have outplayed some of the greatest names in techno... Andrew Weatherall, Ken Ishii, Darren Price, Luke Slater, CJ Bolland, Stacey Pullen... the list goes on. He has previously collaborated with Moody B on remixes for Avenida Recordings and now goes solo with a harder, darker, techy and more powerful interpretation of ‘Not Everybody’ incorporating a deep sea of pads, chords, swells and hypnotic rhythms.
