// Cream @ Amnesia – Deadmau5 //
After a couple of nights off re-fuelling, sleeping and soaking up the sun on the beach in Playa D’en Bossa, we get ourselves ready for Cream at Amnesia. We are the last men standing as the rest of the group have gradually made their way home to sob into a loved ones bosom and contemplate what exactly they are going to do with their lives. After a bit of grub, a shower and one last outfit selection, the three of us make our way down to Coco’s to catch the bus to Amnesia. To say we are all hanging like fruit bats would be an understatement as we all try to rally each others enthusiasm for one last night of rogue activity. We board the multi-human carrying vessel and make our way to one of our favourite ever venues with the sole purpose of watching Deadmau5 perform and entertain. Deadmau5 is heading up the terrace with Chris Lake and Michael Woods and our enthusiasm picks up a few notches as we enter the larger of the two rooms. Chris Lake is putting the finishing touches to his set while the staged area at the opposite end of the room is being prepared for the rodent invasion. There is also a stark contrast in terms of clientele compared to the crowd we partied with in the very same venue on the Monday just gone at Cocoon.
When Deadmau5 emerges the crowd go mental. He begins the show with an atmospheric build up, the visual light show around him draws the crowd in and as the beat drops all hands are in the air and faces are lit up everywhere. In June 2010 Beatport awarded Deadmau5 best electro house artist, best progressive house artist and most influential, relevant and current forward-thinking person in electronic music. If this accolade is measured at all by the Canadian’s fan base I am not surprised as the room is completely under his spell. We are certainly enjoying one of the more relaxed nights of our stint on this crazy island as Deadmau5 moves his set from progressive to deep house to dub step and even dropping Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing in the name of”
All in all a marvellous spread in our opinion, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it rounded off a wonderful 8 days in Ibiza.
