This week the debonair and rather handsome French import Giom politely took time out of his busy schedule to talk yahct rock and scrambled eggs... OK, so lets kick off with a track. . . what’s your current "big" tune that makes the party go off? Right now, I have to say that the Peter Horrevorts mix of Jesse Garcia and Corey Andrew ‘s “Love Me Now” on Dirty Spain Recordings is quite a success wherever I play it… In fact everything Peter Horrevorts does is pretty much spot on these days, I’m a fan.
Tell us 2 random totally non-music related things about you right now. One, I make amazing scrambled eggs. I’m better at it than anyone I know. Two, it’s my birthday next week and I hope somebody gets me a potato ricer as a present as I really want one.
You’ve already worked with some quality labels and producers over the years, given the opportunity, who would be a future dream collaboration for you? I think having an EP on Classic Records is a bit of a dream of mine. I’d love that.
If we could take care of all your commitments and gave you unlimited funds, what would you do next weekend? I’d fly my parents to London and take them around town. I’d also spoil my girlfriend with an amazing restaurant meal and buy lots and lots of music equipment.
Summarise your new Lost My Dog mix compilation in 5 words or less? Fun, bouncy, quirky, silly and head-nodding!
Where in the world do you enjoy DJing the most and why? I love discovering new places, and in general enjoy myself the most when playing out somewhere for the first time. But out of all the regular places I’m lucky enough to DJ at, I have to say that Georgia has a special place in my heart, it’s always fun there. And Fabric in London, obviously
Your a busy chap with plenty going on. . what did you get up to yesterday? Yesterday I did 3 hoursof emails and general “social network updates” in the morning, then organised my CD's for my show in Prague this weekend. I also finished 2 new remixes and found time to sort out dates for my upcoming American tour… busy busy
What is your guilty pleasure? I love yacht rock, and especially TOTO and Michael Mcdonald. He’s my hero. I want to be him when I grow up. He’s the coolest man in the WORLD!
When your not making or listening to house music, what other musical styles/genres/artists do you enjoy? I listen to every kind of music, especially pop, rock, jazz and loads of disco… And yacht rock!
If you could choose a superpower what would it be? My superpower would be to be able to freeze time, so that I would never have to rush ever again.
Is there a Giom artist album in the pipeline? If so can you give us the heads on up on who might feature on it? Yes, there is but I have no idea when you’ll be able to hear it. It’s a long process. All I can say is that I have 3 tracks finished for now, and they’re good.
