Marcia Alves 'Insomniac Oasis' imageSouth Africa’s Matt Prehn continues his recent string of collaborations with Marcia Alves, this time for the much-respected Leeds-based Baker Street Recordings. Prehn previously appeared on Baker Street with his ‘Roots EP’ in May 2010, and also as a member of the Bang Bang threesome with ‘Love Insurance’ back in 2009. With Marcia Alves he has recorded EPs for Oh So Coy andHub City; the female vocals adding a new dimension to his unique deep and funky production style. German deep/tech house stalwartThe Timewriter provides an unrelenting, pulsing, heads-down remix of title track ‘Insomniac Oasis’. Matt Prehn’s Bang Bang project has been turning heads for some time and drawing comparisons to the likes ofGreenskeepers and Crazy P, as well as being highlighted as one of South Africa’s brightest talents by iDJ. They have released music on labels including Lost My Dog, Myna, Kolour, Blockhead, Candy Music and Eight Tracks. As a solo artist, his name is firmly on the rise as well thanks to releases on Onethirty, Headtunes and his own label Oh So Coy, on which he has been prolific in recent months.

Jean Frank Cochois aka The Timewriter began making his mark on the electronic music scene when Tom Wax introduced him to the upcoming label Plastic City in 1995. Next to Terry Lee Brown Jr.,The Timewriter would become the most influential artist in the development of Plastic City as one of the major outlets for tech house in Germany and beyond. His albums and mix-compilations (now totalling 16) have gained him an excellent international reputation. He has been a monthly DJ residenent at Sven Väth'sstate-of-the-art Cocoonclub in Frankfurt and in recent months has worked with labels Neurotraxx Deluxe, 8bit, Outside The Box andDutchie, alongside Plastic City.

Since 2006 Baker Street Recordings has grown into one of the UK’s leading deep and tech house labels appearing consistently in the sets of DJs like Laurent Garnier, Inland Knights, Dirt Crew andLuke McKeehan and on the pages of the dance music press. The label has previously released EPs featuring music by Jay Tripwire, Moodymanc, Sei A, Justin Harris and Demarkus Lewis, Matt Prehn, Michelle Owen, Tom Davis and more. This release marks that label’s 34th EP, with 11 vinyl records being released before their switch to digital in 2009.
