// RJ Fletcher 'Blind Jazz EP' - Release 28th Feb 2011 //
Well, as promised, hot on the heels of their Twenty Eleven Sampler, Deep Edition Recordings release the 3 track ‘Blind Jazz EP’ from label favourite RJ Fletcher. Those that have been following Deep Edition since the label’s launch back in August 2010 will know all about Fletcher, whose ‘Late Groove EP’ alongside Aura was the first release on Deep Edition. He now takes centre stage with a solo EP of dubby, deep house tracks featuring, as the title suggests, some jazz-influenced touches. The Manchester based DJ/producer has also appeared on Deep Edition with a remix of Martijn's 'Sweet Sound' and featured on the recent sampler with the superb 'When Sounds Pretends'.
RJ Fletcher’s productions for Deep Edition have attracted praise from some of the leading players in deep house, with DJs including Danny Tenaglia, Soul Minority, Kolombo, Elmar Schubert, Luke Solomon, Gee Moore and Feygin amongst his supporters. iDJ Magazine rated the ‘Late Groove EP’ 7/10 and Chicago’s 5 Magazine said, “Moody, classy and reminds me of the wee hours of the morning…one of the most coherent deep house EPs I’ve heard in a while.”
Deep Edition Recordings was founded by Martyn Hodgson aka Martijn with an aim to showcase some of the best up and coming producers the deep house scene has to offer. To date the label has featured releases from Midnight Audio, Persian, Marc Vexar, Martijn and Jesus Pablo & Di Riviera amongst others, with a heavy focus on UK based producers and the North of England in particular. Despite having no A-list superstars on their roster, Deep Edition has been an instant success in its first six months with DJ support flooding in from the likes of Luciano, Jay Tripwire, Nils Nuernberg, LawnChair Generals, Brothers Vibe, Moodymanc and Joshua Heath – a true testament to the quality of the label’s musical output.
