// Exclusive Jamie Anderson interview //

We've been digging this gentleman's work for a while now and we were lucky enough be able to ask him a few questions about what he's up to and what he's got coming up... Hi Jamie, lets kick off with a tune to listen to as we crack on. . . what do you suggest? Jamie Anderson feat K’Alexi – Cyclone (Fish Go Deep Remix)

Your one hell  of a busy fella with a lot going on. .  what did you do yesterday? I was  laying down some beats in the studio, processing and chopping up drum loops for my next Loopmasters sample pack.

What can you tell us about the forthcoming Artform label compilation and mix CD for release Sept/Oct 2011? This will be the first label compilation I have done on Artform and will feature a selection of the most recent releases. I will also do a mixed version which will include some unreleased tracks and edits.

You work with the Cream of quality labels, artists and producers and have done for many years, given the opportunity, who would be a dream collaboration for you? Quincy Jones.

If we could take care of all your commitments this weekend and you had unlimited funds, where on the planet would you go and what would you get up to? I would charter one of those big luxury yachts and leisurely sail between tropical islands soaking up the sun... thanks for the offer – let’s do it ;)

For the budding producer out there, what can we expect from the Jamie Anderson: Underground Tech-House Vol. 2' sample pack for Loopmaster due for release after summer 2011? I sampled more of my studio hardware, mainly drum loops programmed on my Roland TR-909, Basslines and Synths from my Nord Lead and Roland JD-800. I routed these through my old Mackie 8-Bus mixing desk and a Joe Meek VC2.2 Optical Compressor and recorded them digitally at 24bit. As with ‘Underground Tech-House Vol. 1’ I have attempted to capture the raw sound of my studio with warm analogue processing to create an inspirational palette to work from.

You've been lucky enough to take control at some serious events around the world; Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Dance Valley Festival in Amsterdam, Zouk in Singapore, Love Parade San Francisco, Cocoon. . . where do you enjoy performing live and DJ'ing the most? Obviously Panorama bar is a great place to play, also Zouk in Singapore. Mint Club in Leeds has a great sound system and DJ booth with an intense crowd. Dance Valley and Loveland Festivals are always fun in Amsterdam. Sometimes though my best DJ experiences have been playing random one-off gigs that you do while on tour and least expecting it.

Angry Birds - Iphone 4  - Level 5, screen 12-8 been stuck on it a day and a half now, its not even funny . . any ideas? That’s easy, chuck the red bird to the lower half of the pile, aiming to hit a wood plank head-on, to destroy as much of the first column as possible. Then, pop the egg bird near the base of the second column. If you are lucky the egg bird will either knock the rest of the pile and tip the bomb over the edge, or bounce over the top and also take out the bomb that way. Anything left over can be destroyed by firing the yellow one directly into the centre. 8)

Jamie Anderson = Bionic? How do you find the time in your über busy schedule to 'co-run' the mighty Outland Records and what can we look forward to on the 20th Anniversary compilation. . It’s not actually that much more work to run two labels as it is just one. Jerome also runs the shop in Amsterdam and handles the artwork and most of the A&R. We then discuss the release schedule each month or so and I arrange the mastering, remixes and distribution. Not sure of the plan for the anniversary comp yet – we are still working on ideas!

When can we expect a taste of the releases for Cocoon and Dessous we hear you are currently working on? Around September.

Most importantly, how would a tear up between The X-Men and The Thundercats pan out. . .  who would win? I fancy  Panthro doing some serious damage, what do you reckon? My money would be on The X-Men. Although, if The Thundercats teamed up with G-Force they could beat The X-Men.

Have a go on Mr Anderson's latest live performance from Kai-Zen...lovely job. Jamie Anderson Live @ Kai-Zen (RADIO EDIT) by jamieanderson
